How it Works
-
At the first meeting you attend, you will be asked to complete a commitment form to become a member. As a member you to agree to donate $400 annually – $100 at each meeting.

-
At each meeting charitable non-profit organizations are nominated by you, the members, and their names placed in a basket. Portland and particularly SW suburb and rural communities SW of Portland organizations with 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt status are eligible. Organization may not be a religious or political entity. We do not fund projects related to partisan politics or elections nor do we fund religious organizations however donations may be made to support non-religious programs provided through these organizations. See more information on the nominating process here.

-
Three nominated organizations are then drawn and the nominating member has 5 minutes to tell why her organization should be selected. This will be followed by a 5 minute Q & A session for each nominee. A vote is taken, ballots counted and plurality rules! The nomination and voting process is reserved for members only.

-
Each member writes a check for $100 to the selected organization. When all checks are in, they are presented to the director of the chosen organization. Receiving agency must agree not to solicit members or share names or other information about 100 Women Who Care members.

I understand I am making a personal commitment to donate $400 each year ($100 at each quarterly meeting) to charities serving the Portland, OR SW Suburbs area.
I understand that even if the majority votes for a charity that is not my first choice, I will donate to it. If I am unable to attend a meeting, I will mail my check or donate online via the charity's website.
I understand that only committed members may nominate a local nonprofit to go into the "hat" at future meetings.
